Question

voicemail issue

Hi all,

I'm having a strange voicemail problem on my Samsung fold 7 and hoping someone can help.

When someone leaves me a voicemail, I get the "1 new voicemail" notification as normal. However, when I open my voicemail it says "no new messages". Someone left me a test message today and the same thing happened.

What I've found is that the voicemails are actually turning up as audio files in my Downloads folder. I only noticed because my phone is set to sync my downloads to my Google Drive and voicemails are being automatically uploaded to there instead.  So the message is being delivered, just not to the normal voicemail mailbox. I have no idea why

Has anyone else seen voicemails arriving as audio file downloads like this? Is there a setting on the SIM or my iD account that controls how voicemail is delivered, and is there a way to switch it back to the standard mailbox so the notification and messages match?

Any help or advice from the community or the iD team would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
CJ

    Hi @Cj2020.

Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry for the trouble with your voicemail. I can see why the mismatch between the notification and the mailbox is confusing.

We don't control how voicemail is delivered to your handset. Voicemails arriving as audio files can be normal if you use a transcription or digital voicemail service, or if an app on your phone automatically exports recordings.

    Thanks,

Hi, I don't have any apps that change the normal voicemail service. I joined IDmobile a month or so ago, transferring from another UK provider and set up the standard voicemail. I've never come across this issue before .

I believe I've found the issue. It's a new setting in the Samsung phone app called direct voicemail. This allows the voicemail to be transcribed if needed so it saves it as an audio file first . Turning that function off should revert the voicemail back to on server only.  Apologies for the post, I really should have done more research first but I'll leave this here in case it helps anyone else
