Not getting security code when registering on app

Hi

I would appreciate some help with registering my new id sim.

I’ve put the sim in my ipad and it seems to work fine.

Downloaded the id app. Followed the instructions for registering and I don’t get a security code!

Have tried about 20 times on different days!

Went onto live chat and ended up being directed here.

Hope I can get some help!

Hi there @foonchik

Are you able to pop the iD SIM into a phone just temporarily to try and complete the registration process there?

I’m unsure if the iPad itself would be able to work with regular SMS, as I’m only familiar with iMessage being a possibility in iPads personally.

Hi @foonchik,

I am sorry to hear this! The code is sent via SMS; does your iPad allow access to ordinary SMS messages? We would advise trying the SIM card inside another phone temporarily anyway in order to obtain the code.

Hi Ryan

Thanks for your help!

I got the code from my phone.

My iPad only has iMessages.

I tried to set it to accept sms but the instructions from Apple website don’t seem to work because I don’t get the options on my settings. I’m wondering if id can help with changing my carrier settings.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards,

Foon

Hi @foonchik, have you tried following these steps? https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/ipad/ipad70482978/ipados

What options are you missing that Apple are asking you to change?

Thank you,

Rory

Hi Rory

Thanks for the link.

I sign in with the same apple id on both ipad and iphone. My id sim is for my ipad.

The issue seems to be that on my ipad imessages is on and the phone number for my id sim card doesn’t show up because the phone number is for my iphone.

I signed out of imessages and now it says imessages not working.

I used to use a different apple id for my ipad, I’m going to try using a different apple id on my ipad to see if the sim phone number will show up.

Other suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks for your help!

Foon

Hi Will

Thanks for your help!

I've been in touch with apple support about sending and receiving SMS messages on my iPad.

The instructions say I need to  check with carrier about sending SMS. I'm wondering if you can check if ID mobile allows sms messages.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards,

Foon

Hello @foonchik,

From what I’m aware, supported devices for use of our SIM cards are only phones.

The iPad is not a supported device.

That said, many users have gotten data services to work in the iPad.

I don’t believe the SMS services or calling will work via this.

Hi Mohammed

Thanks for your reply!
I’m wondering if you do a SIM card for iPads that allows sms messages.

Kind regards,

Hi @foonchik,

That wouldn’t work with our SIM cards sorry.
