I enjoy being with a rich diversity of friends, some much younger than me, from many different ethnic backgrounds.

Being around my wife makes me smile and reminds me that the universe can give you amazing blessings with those you can connect with. The things in our days, especially silly things or the everyday like peeling a banana and keeping the skin and chucking the rest in the bin 🍌or planting together a few bulbs last week 🪻. These connections makes me smile and feel closer 🙂

The smile on a friends face (with MND) when I said I was going to try to win a mask to help him manage his facial wrinkles.

Seeing the progress my husband and I are making on renovating our two bed flat. Makes me feel grateful getting into bed every evening when we have such a lovely space to relax in and call home!

What makes me smile is …...knowing I have done something to help someone else.
Whether it is as simple as giving useful advice, guiding them through something, being someone’s support or being able to give them something they need.
My happiness is knowing those I love are happy, healthy and content.

My 2 year old son providing consistent unfiltered commentary in all that he does to keep everyone aware of what he plans to do/is doing/has done. The eloquence, radical honesty and childlike delivery keeps us massively entertained and fully informed of his intentions before he actions them!  I.E. “I’m just going to hide behind the sofa, let’s see if you can find me!” 😂

I smile when I remember my holiday in Portugal. Sitting on the balcony in the evening looking at the beautiful sunset and watching a tiny fisherman’s boat crossing the setting sun

Aah such lovely memories

December has been a whirl wind for me.

I suffered a psychotic episode and got sectioned under the mental health act. I was feeling so low in myself due to it that I started gambling, I've put my partner through hell with this and my god it has taken a toll on her, bless her.

She really has seen me at my darkest place. Currently today I am 27 days gamble free which doesn't sound like a lot but believe you me, it really is.

I used to smile a lot, music is one of the things that used to make me smile but I'm 34 this year and it just doesn't hit that sweet spot it used to. I haven't picked up a guitar in months.

My days are now taking medication to keep me from having another episode and just getting through each day as it comes and that's hard st times.

I live in the past too much, I think we all do in sme volume but some more than others. My partner is amazing, she tells me if something goes wrong "whatevs, can't change it" and I'm trying so hard to adopt this beautiful outlook on things and it's working to some extent.

January for me has been about not gambling and paying towards my credit card deb and it's going good. I'm putting every penny and pound that's spare back on the credit cards and by March I'll be debt free.

God I could do with a pick me up. I'm so echausted by my own crap and I know my partner myst be feeling the same.

So what makes me smile?

My partner, every single morning that I wake up next to her feels like a gift from god (even though I don't believe too much). And every night that we go to bed and have a a cuddle whilst we sleep is the perfect end to the day.

I'm in tears now (happy tears) whilst typing this haha god she makes me so happy.

But what I really love and makes me smile more than anything? Is giving her a gift.

My word you can not replace the feeling I get from giving her a gift with anything else. Seeing her smile at something thoughtful I've got her is one of life's treasures.

She means the world to me.

So if I won, this would be a present for her. It's not just January, but this whole year is about me making it up to her, I know the psychotic episode wasn't my fault, I know that now. But the gambling was sometbing that we really did not need.

All I wanna do is make this year special for her.

I saw this and thought why not?

I never do these things haha you never know eh?
