I love the Peak District. My favourite walk is Stanton Moor with it's ancient stone circle, and although I can walk from home, I love to camp at nearby Barn Farm in the summer, too.

The most memorable experience I’ve had was doing the challenging walk out to Worm’s Head and Devil’s Bridge in Wales. The tide had to be just right, and once I crossed the causeway, it felt like stepping into another world — jagged rocks, sea spray, and nothing but open sea ahead. Parts of the route were tough and uneven, but the views made every step worth it. It was wild, raw, and absolutely unforgettable.

As much as I would like to say UK I go to the Greek islands a lot and the walks are amazing but recently went to Delos, this small historical island is the greatest walk I have ever been on, history at every turn, the whole island is one walk in the past and something I will never forget and will go back many times to walk the same groung the ancient Greeks did, just an amazing place to walk around and drink in the history and feel the whole place.

We are lucky to live close to the River Severn in Gloucestershire and enjoy a morning walk with dogs where every day the scenery and views seem different, it’s like seeing a fresh painting each morning.

Holkham to Wells-next-the-sea

The walk from Holkham to Wells doesn’t need whistles and bells, serene views speak for themselves.

Marshland frame the exchange between the sea and the horizon, the grass parting as a heron flies in.

Sand dunes host families of all shapes and sizes, entertaining laughter as happiness rises.

Razor clams guide the way, their rectangular structure arranged in an array.

Shells are scattered here and there, ready to be placed in someone’s lair.

Seagulls talk of seaside delights, this must be because Wells is in sight.

Pine trees stretch and wonder, the sun they endeavour. Beach huts stand united in bright colour, ready to withstand any weather.

The sea breeze whispers secrets and dreams, dancing with tranquility that’s so easy to please.

Sand skips at a leisurely pace, in no hurry, its golden appearance puts a smile on my face.

My heart is full and complete, responsible is the walk from Holkham to Wells beach.

(Tilly Vaughan (aged 15) - on holiday in Wells)

My favourite walk is my local country park- Riverside! Pure heaven!

We have a walk in Arbroath, Scotland, UK.  When our dog was alive she would run down to the stream that runs along side it and wait for us to throw pebbles.  It runs along and old rail route.  We have given our daughter three little words to identify the location as we would like our ashes put there when the time comes.

Sorry no photo available.

I love walking the lavadas in Madeira when I holiday there. The scenery is beautiful and quite often there are people working in their gardens which are fed water from these ancient waterways.

Whichever one I am doing at the time. In terms of ones that stick with me then either the 26 miles round Salisbury past Stone Henge and Old Sarum or the Jurassic Coast (the first for the Alzheimer’s Society and the second for Macmillan Cancer Support). Both good causes, both well organised and both I hope to do again at some point.
