I am currently with 3 mobile and the customer service has told me that I can't take my phone number for 3 to ID mobile as it is the same network! Does anyone know if this is true? Or has anyone done this? There was nothing in the small print 🤷

That’s nonsense,
Three UK are obliged to give you a PAC, if ask for one.
A PAC issued by Three UK can be used to switch iD Mobile.
From your 3 SIM card, just text “PAC” to 65075 to get your PAC from Three UK.
