My MIL has an ID phone organised on a joint account by her husband.

He died.   She wants to keep mobile, but ID want to close the account.   I presume she can create a new account. How does she keep her number?  I think a PAC code only works to change network?

Unfortunately, you can’t use a PAC to transfer a mobile number from one iD account to another iD account, @Simon Lawccc

  • Ask iD Mobile for a PAC for the ‘old’ account - before they have closed the ‘old’ account.
  • Use the PAC to transfer the number you want to keep over to a PAYG service provider like ASDA Mobile, giffgaff, LEBARA, etcetera.
  • Once the number you want to keep works properly with your PAYG provider, ask them for a PAC.
  • Give the PAC to iD to use with your ‘new’ account.

It’s a faff and will take several days (at least) to complete, but you should end up with the number you want linked to your ‘new’ iD account.

Hey there @Simon Lawccc, we’re very sorry to hear that and sorry for your loss. To keep your number, the only ways to do so are via upgrade and via PAC code to another network I’m afraid.

She can of course order a new contract, to keep the same number, you’d need to complete a triangle port where you transfer the number to another network on Pay As You Go, then back to us on the new plan.

Thanks,

Tyler
