Hi

my monthly bill on my agreement is £29.99 however this month it was £44.79?

It sounds like you’re being billed for incoming premium rate texts. This can and does happen.

78484 is the shortcode for PhonepayPlus. They do have an email address and a contact number if you want to see why your wifes number has been signed up?

It also appears to be related to Mobile Interactive Group Limited

Have you turned off premium on her iD account? If not, via the app → plan → manage your iD services → premium and toggle this to off and click save. I have no idea if this stops future inbound/outbound premium rate texts or not once they already started

I also totally understand how frustrating this is but I doubt iD instigated this service to start sending the premium rate texts, unless of course these texts were outbound texts whereby you would see this on the actual phone. Obviously this is only advice but non payment of bills could give you a much bigger issue in the future - but I totally get what you’re saying.

Hi there @Aislingh

If you have the iD Mobile app on your phone, have you looked at the actual bill to see if it tells you why it’s higher than you expected?

Via the App → Bills → View previous bills → and click on that bill

Why  are you taking £19.50 instead of the £15 deal I signed up for.

Have you upgraded or changed your plan recently, @Aislingh

The £44.79 bill might cover more than 1-month if you changed/upgraded.

No it doesn't say why, my deal is everything unlimited and no there are no roaming charges.

Is the billing period 1-month or a longer period, @Kevin Knox

I have gone through the bill and for the last 2 months a premium rate text as been added 3 times at £1.50 a go.The number is 78484.and  one of the times it was sent was5-38 in the morning, and I know for a fact that my wife would not be up at that time. If this is not sorted before the next bill I wont be paying anything.

Cheers Daz Yeah they don't show up on texts. I will try what you have said, but that wont get me my money back.

Yeah I doubt any business would refund you @Kevin Knox, so sounds like you need to take this one on the chin.

But hoping turning off premium blocks future ones.

Please let us know 🤞

I did assist a friend of a friend once who’d been conned into several of theses premium texts. Lets call them for this true example Charity.

Charity 1 made contact and this poor old non tech grandmother started getting charged for texts.

Charity 1 sold her details to Charity 2.

Charity 2 contacted her and due to her dementia she signed up to this one too.

Charity 2 sold to Charity  3, 3 to 4, 4 to 5 and so on

Then came the posted letters too, so one or all started asking for donations via post too. She being an ex servicewoman herself felt she had to help others like she did during WW2.

This poor old grandmother ended up in some debt, then due to the stress she had a stroke, finished up in care, never got over that (or more alarming to me was how she felt about her shame of her dropping her guard) and is now sadly playing the harp.

If I could have 5 mins with them, I’d being not be regretting something. This kinda s*** makes my blood boil!!!!

Too right!

Oh,  mine also had a p and an r and an i and an s too, but the rest was different to yours (and less letters)

And that poor old lady wasn’t the first and wasn’t the last I’ve helped, that’s what gets to me.

I’ve also helped others as and when I’m either approached or happen to stumble on them by accident.

Its crazy just how many out there are paying each month for these types of texts - just look at some on the TV, they ask for money (which is fine) but quickly flash up that by sending cash you opt yourself in to receiving sms and calls until you stop them. Some I’ve helped did verbally say stop but these calls and subsequent messages continued - until I spoke to the callers and said no means no, and they say well you need to text stop to us at £1.50 to £4.50 a pop. How do they sleep at night - actually probably very well on their Do-Do feathered pillows and woolly mammoth quilt covers!

Anyway, give us a shout if you get any on next months bill, hoping you don’t

(at least you can refer back to this if any get through after turning off premium via your account)
