call charges when roaming turned off

Hi, my mum went on holiday to Tunisia

She says she turned roaming off.

However, when she got the bill, she has been charged for receiving calls from her nephew.

So, what does turning roaming off actually do?

If roaming is turned of, will your phone ring?

will you get SMS messages.

Cheers in advance, Paul.

Roaming works by default for calls and texts, @Pattayapaul

To prevent unwanted charges while roaming, you can set your iD account bill cap to £0, or turn off the roaming option for your iD account using the iD app or your iD online account.

Whereabouts did your Mum switch off roaming, @Pattayapaul

SMS text messages are free to receive worldwide.

Best speak to iD customer service if you think you’ve been billed incorrectly.

It would have been nice if you could have just anwered the question.

I have never mentioned that I think that my mum has been billed incorrectly.

Hello @Pattayapaul

Thanks for getting in touch with us here on the community.

We are sorry to hear your Mother has been unexpectedly charged.

Turning off roaming will remove the ability for your Mother to be able to access/use the service whilst she is abroad.

This does not turn off her handset from being able to receive calls.

To stop incoming calls, going in to Airplane Mode would be an option as this stops all services from being used.

Thanks,

Nat
