can I buy additional data to use when abroad? I used all my data and bought more but it seemed it was only for UK use. Am I able to buy extra data to use in France?

No, unfortunately not, as we have a 30GB Fair Usage Roaming cap abroad, which I assume you have hit. You can go over, but it is charged at a rate of £3 per additional GB. Here’s more information:
