Can't make or receive calls

My phone (Samsung S22U) will not make or receive calls. This is new behaviour - it has worked fine for two years. Internet connection (4G/5G) work fine. Also I can send and receive text messages. Only voice is problematic.  Dialling out i get the “calling xxx” message then “unable to connect” Calling in, the caller hears eight or so rings then the connection cuts.  There is no ringing nor “missed call” notification on my phone. Very occasionally I get a message “Not registered on the network” when dialling out, but not every time. And today my SIM Manager tells me my SIM has an “unknown number”. Ideas, anyone?

Hi @matthew_w1001

This sounds like VoLTE is not enabled on your phone (you can use data, send/receive texts but you CAN’T make/receive calls).
To enable VoLTE on a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, navigate to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks and toggle on the "VoLTE calls" option associated with your SIM card. This allows you to make calls over the 4G network.

Hope this helps x

It turns out that the problem only happens when I am at home, or in my local town.  I was elsewhere yesterday and the phone worked fine.  Back home today it has stopped working.  If I turn on wifi calling and use my home wifi network it works fine.  I am beginning to suspect a local tower issue but I cannot confirm this. Does anyone know how to check?

And now, with no changes to my phone (and I did check all the helpful suggestions above - settings were all as they should be) the phone works perfectly.  However there were no network/tower problems reported in my area.  Which I don’t believe…

Thanks, all.
