cannot make or receive calls

I have followed all advice in chats but still cannot make or receive calls. To confirm I am on 4g, iphone is on latest updates, have switched on and off, switched provider temporarily, tried airplane mode off and on, removed sim. Have never experienced this with any other provider but this is second time with Id mobile. Have missed a very important call because of this problem.  Anyone else having this unfixable problem?

I have just finished live chat with Anneline. On iPhone I had to delete my number then re enter it in settings. (It says old number but my number hasn’t changed). Then restarted phone and calls now work. Bizarre - wasted so much time resetting stuff, removing sim etc. Thank you Anneline. Hope this helps others

Okay @EM53, perhaps the 3G network has been switched OFF at your location - if so you’ll need to use VoLTE for calls.

Have you tried a NETWORK RESET on the handset with your iD SIM?

I’m on 4g and understand volte is automatically enabled on iPhones - is that incorrect? Thanks

I have googled and there a reports of people taking phones into shops and being told others have been in with the same problem- I can’t see ID mobile doing another than suggesting it’s down to 3G but I am in 4G and have done everything possible to reset. Everything works except calls - no idea what to do next 🤷‍♀️

Yes @EM53, VoLTE is supposed to be automatically enabled on an iPhone.

What do you see under Settings > General > About, after scrolling down to Network Provider?

Tap the text to the right-hand side of Network Provider.

I see ID 59.0. It seems as though only calls don’t work, I switched Wi-Fi off and still have Id mobile data. Thank you for responding. I tried chat but it was hopeless. Hardly use calls so wasn’t aware it didn’t work but I was supposed to pick someone up after their chemo and they couldn’t contact me but to them it just looked like I didn’t answer

I see ID 59.0.

And when you tap on 59.0, @EM53?

Sounds like you’re using iOS 18 - I wonder if there is an issue with this iOS release.

Nothing happens if I try and tap on it it’s greyed out. I only updated it today incase it not being updated was causing the problem - thanks again- hopefully someone from ID mobile will read this thread

Today, as happened last week, I cannot make or receive calls. I either get "couldn't connect"or "not registered on network". I am at home, same as last week, so why is this happening, and happening more frequently?

The reason I became aware of this issue today is because I got an email from Sky saying that they had tried to call me.

I used to be with O2 before joining ID Mobile, and never had these issues.

I am still unable to make/receive calls!

Currently get 5g at home, 1 bar. Went to Tesco (about 1.5 miles away), it dropped to 4g, and still only 1 bar. The network is non-existent for me today.

I am sorry to hear of the trouble you have had with your coverage @Windybuffs

Can you please check your coverage here to see if there are any current outages in your area - https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/coverage

Some materials and structures can also affect signal strength.

Can you try switching to 4G only to see if that helps? Do you have Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE enabled?

Hi Siân,

I do have Volte enabled. In Network mode I have 3 options:

5g (preferred), LTE and 3g

I have changed it to LTE, no difference. I then changed it to 3g, also no difference.

I turned wi-fi off, and that has enabled 4g, but still can't make any calls.

I checked the network status using the link you provided and it said:

There is, at times, heavy usage in this local area. As a result, you may experience varying data speeds depending on how many customers are connecting to our network via your closest mast.

We’re always working to improve our network and aim to provide the best experience.

Internet does not seem to be affected, but making and receiving calls is. I just tried to call our landline again, and it says "Couldn't connect".

Is it a particularly busy area @Windybuffs

Do you find coverage is poorer at peak times, or is it always generally poor?

i have a same problem for some time. Tried everything but it’s hopeless. Just missed an important call because of this issue as it doesn’t ring only get a missed call notification. I’m going to switch to new provider as iD mobile is pretty useless. imposible to chat to real person..

Hi Siân,

I usually have problems when I am on the phone (people can't here me, I have to move around to try and get a better signal).

It seems to be happening alot lately, and i still can't make or receive calls as i write this. So I would say it's increasingly becoming a real issue.

I make my calls during the day, but i don't know what the peak times are in my area. it's very bad today 😞

I have restarted my phone, and i can now make calls. There is definitely a problem somewhere.

This morning, my phone is connected to 5g, showing only one bar, yet I have been able to make a call, but yesterday I couldn't for about 3-4 hours. Any idea why?
