Cannot register on network

We have inserted the SIM into our son's phone but despite trying several things, the network is not recognised.

 

He cannot use his new phone. Is there anything we are doing wrong, or that we can try?

Have you tried testing the SIM card in a different device, and are you experiencing the same issue with it not connecting?
