Changed phone and IMessages wont work

Hello,

I am currently on a Sim only plan and yesterday I got a new phone. I moved my sim into my new phone but my FaceTime and IMessages will not work.

When I go into settings and try to activate both FaceTime and iMessages I get an error message saying there was an error in activating it.

I have restarted phone signed into my ID app and it’s still not working.

I would be grateful for any help.

Okay @Betho Winter, perhaps these steps might help.

  1. Sign out of your Apple ID. Head to Settings → Messages → Send and receive, then tap your Apple ID email at the top and tap "Sign out".
  2. Turn off iMessage. Head to Settings → Messages and toggle it off.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Turn iMessage back on. Go to Settings → Messages and toggle iMessage on.
  5. Sign into your Apple ID. Head back to Settings → Messages → Send and receive, then tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage".
  6. Check your carrier settings are up to date. As a last ditch attempt, head to Settings → General → About. Just hang about on this screen for around 60 seconds. If an update to your carrier settings is available, you'll see a pop-up appear.

If nothing sorted your issue, you'll probably need to contact Apple Support so they can look into your issue.

Okay @Betho Winter, here’s a few things to try.

First off, look under Settings > General > Date and Time.
Make sure your phone's set to automatic time and date, and automatic time zone.

Next reset iMessage as follows:

  1. Turn off iMessage. Go to Settings. Scroll down and tap on Messages. Switch off iMessage.
  2. Turn off your phone. Wait 10-15 minutes, then turn it on again.
  3. Go to Settings > Phone and make sure My Number is set correctly. Change it if it isn't.
  4. Turn on iMessage again. Go to Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage on.

Thank you for the response.
I have tried these but unfortunately it still shows me an error when I try and activate iMessages and FaceTime. It is not working against my mobile number but will work against my email.
