Question

changing to old number

I had an old number a while ago that I think was with ID but I have recently changed numbers twice. My current number is ID but I was wondering if I can change it to my old one? Thanks

Unfortunately @Wood678, your ‘old’ number has probably been recycled for use elsewhere if you’ve not been actively using it - for calls, texts, or mobile data - nor paying a monthly subscription to a service provider.

Mobile networks assign numbers randomly, so you’re unlikely to be able to change to your ‘old’ number.

Do you think I would be able to contact the person with the old number? I only need a code that can only be sent to the number.

Hi @Wood678

As you no longer have access to your old number and you require a code that will be sent to it…... is there an option to have a code sent to you via your email (as long as it hasn’t changed)?
Usually, there is an option to get a code sent via a different method when needed.
I know, personally, that sometimes it is easier to get codes sent to me via my mobile number but other times I request one to be sent to me via email and there is always the option to do so.
Other than that, you can try to ask the new owner of your old number if this is acceptable, BUT like myself, I would probably assume that it is a scam and ignore the request.
You could also contact the Customer Services of company you need the code from and explain the circumstances so that they can change your contact number to the one you have and then you can get the code you require now and in the future.

Good luck x x

It only gives me the option of sending it to the number, I’ve asked customer service and they’re really no help they just say they can’t change it.

Sounds about right with regards to CS reply but understandable!

Which company are you trying to get a code from?
I’m sure that I’ve seen similar questions on other Community pages I am part of and I can have a look to see if it has been asked.

If you don’t have the mobile number, then perhaps iD Mobile suspect this is a fraudulent attempt to obtain a mobile number, @Wood678

@Decembersangel72 its for Snapchat. I have been trying to get into the account for ages and I have the password and the email connected to the account. But says it needs a code which would be sent to my old number. I asked Customer Service and it’s just automated replies.

To web chat with an iD customer adviser, just tell the helpful 24/7 iD chatbot you’d like to “talk to a person”, @Wood678

The iD advisers work until 8pm on weekdays.

Hi @Wood678

I have found this information with regards to getting verification via email…..
https://beebom.com/how-reset-snapchat-password/
(scroll down to ‘Reset Snapchat Password Without Phone Number’)

You can also try these:-

  1. Contact Snapchat on the mobile app by going to "Settings," "Support," then “Contact Us.” (Unless this is what you have already ttried)
  2. Visit Snapchat's ‘Submit a Request’ page to contact them on desktop.
  3. Reach out to Snapchat on X @snapchatsupport for quick assistance with a problem.
  4. Contact Snapchat via email support@snapchat.com
  5. https://www.lifewire.com/contact-snapchat-customer-service-4584117

Number 3 seems to be the best option as there are mixed results reported for contacting via email (but still worth a try!)

There is also this…..
https://help.snapchat.com/hc/en-us/articles/15616633664148-I-can-t-verify-my-email-or-mobile-number

I hope something here helps!

Good luck x
