My contract is ending next month, ID have said if I don't upgrade or switch to sim only my payment will stay the same. I'm confused,  if I've paid for the phone surely I should only be paying for the calls and data? My daughters phone contract, with a different provider, ended and her direct debit automatically dropped.  Same with my son's.  Can anyone explain it to me? Thanks

Hi @Calliope,

We're sorry for any confusion this has caused.

Your iD Mobile contract doesn't automatically change or cancel when the minimum term ends. Around a month before your contract is due to end, you should receive an end-of-contract email explaining that you'll need to contact us if you'd like to upgrade, move to a different plan or cancel your service. If no changes are made, your agreement continues on the same monthly price and terms.

This is also set out in our Terms & Conditions:

  • Clause 3.1: "This Agreement will continue for the Minimum Period and will continue to apply after that unless and until either you or we terminate it in accordance with Clause 8 below or otherwise in accordance with a right expressly set out in this Agreement."
  • Clause 8.12: "At the end of your Minimum Period, this Agreement will continue on these existing terms until you tell us that you'd like to terminate your Agreement."

This means that although the initial minimum term has ended, the agreement doesn't automatically stop, and the monthly charge remains the same unless you give at least 30 days' notice to cancel or choose a new plan.

If you'd like to reduce your monthly cost or upgrade, we'd recommend getting in touch with our Sales team, who can discuss the upgrade and SIM-only options available to you.

Regards,
