Data allowance used up within hours of new sim.

I am trying out the signal from ID mobile and doing speed tests in my various locations compared to the Giffgaff signal and speed. I bought the PAYG 1gb sim and within a few hours I got a text saying data allowance was USED up. Switching back to GG to use the ID app it's still showing 894mb available. I've only been doing speedtests so can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong please. Not a great start to ID mobile!

Hi Tom

I did use live chat which was a waste of time as when I eventually got through to a real person all he said was my data had run out and I had to purchase more despite my explanation. I gave up on ID and switched the sim off. I was very impressed at the speed however compared to GiffGaff. Thanks Steve

This has just happened to me and I’m on a 50gb sim and only been using it since yesterday!!!

I had exactly the same issue, purchased a 30GB data plan running alongside my Sky mobile. I was testing the data speeds where I live, probably did 10 or 15 speed tests using Okla and used 25GB of data apparently. Something is not right that a speed test uses that volume of data and surely anyone would be curious and would test this out. I’m only on a monthly plan so if it continues to do this I’ll go elsewhere.

In my brief time with ID I found them deplorable to deal with. After hunting for over an hour to find a way to chat to a real person I was told and I'm paraphrasing, "well you've used up your data and you must add more funds". Doing a speed test only uses mb's of data not GB's so if they did this to us, how many more people are wasting money and being told the same nonsense?

Agree, I’ve been looking to see a way I can chat to someone somewhere but literally no options on the app or online from what I can see. We’ll see if it is worth continuing with. There is a lot of competition out there for sims and if they provide esim it is pretty easy to sign up and get started. No excuse for poor customer service.
