Dead tone when im on another call

Has anyone else had an issue when on a call and someone else tries to call.  I have call waiting, so when on the phone, I’m alerted to someone calling. But the caller is getting a dead tone or even number out of service, so they try again and again thinking they are not connecting by my end it’s notifying me fine. I don’t have voicemail as I got fed up of getting a missed call, dailing voicemail for the message to say “give me a call”. So I turned it off. But even pressing the Send to voicemail button (Apple) the caller is not getting the busy tone.  What on earth is happening.

Hey there @Coopes, welcome to Community!

How long has this been an issue for please?

Is it only for specific phone numbers, or all numbers that call you?

Thanks,

Tyler

I have only been a customer a month. It’s just seems to be random. But mainly mobiles. Some work fine and it just rings to the caller. But other callers get the dead tone.

Hi @Coopes

Okay, this issue only occurs when you’re already on a call, correct?

If you aren’t on a call, anybody can call you just fine?

Tom

@Coopes thank you for confirming.

So to confirm, it’s intermittent when it happens, and random? Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn’t?

There isn’t a pattern at all to it?

Also to just to double confirm, is voicemail enabled or disabled?

Thanks,

Tyler

I am having this exact same problem, very distracting with the call waiting beeps when I'm on a call to a client and someone else rings 5 or 6 times in a row thinking they have a problem with their phone.

I have voicemail set up.

This only happens whilst I'm in a call.

People who have tried to ring and a dead tone are on various different networks.

Only started happening a month or so ago.

I use an Honor Magic 5 Pro

Hey there @HU3D, we’re sorry to hear that.

How long have you had issues for?

Have you tried your SIM card in another phone at all?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi Tyler,

I Haven’t tried another phone as I brought a brand new phone from you when I joined, But I know I'm not the only one with the same issue, would its not my phone . I’m using an iPhone 15.

Hi @Tyler @Tom@Tom

I haven't tried another phone but one of my clients on your network with a Samsung is also having this issue, and as @Coopes has just mentioned he has an iPhone.

I forgot to mention, this isn't intermittent, it's every time I'm on a call. It's litterally driven me loopy today every time I've been on a call, people ringing over and over.

@Coopes i think you've accidently clicked something which is making the post appear as solved.

@HU3D

I’m not sure I clicked anything but it is definitely far from solved!!  @Tom @Tyler please can you amend to unsolved.

@HU3D Im so glad it’s not just me but that’s exactly what happens to me. I was ringing people back asking where the fire was as they’d tried 5 or 6 times. Do you also get a delay when making a call?  I select who I’m calling put it to my ear and then have to take it away from my ear to check I actually tapped the number to dial. Then it connects and starts ringing the person?

@Coopes yeah before I realised it was a problem, mum my called 6 times, I had to leave the call I was on to ring her back in a panic that someone had died lol.

No not having an issue with delay in calling out, but do you have WiFi calling enabled? and does this only happen if it's when your making a call via WiFi calling?

Hi @Coopes & @HU3D

Are you able to try another device with your SIM card to see how you get on?

It may be worth trying the following also;

@Tom I’ve tried another device but as its intermittent when i have tried it works fine, but id also highly suspect the brand new iphone ID sent me is the problem as I’m not the only one it happens to.  I’ve clicked the link as advised and all seems good.  As much as I love these messages, two weeks later from me reporting this very annoying issue we are not and steps closer to solving it.  How many people need to report being affected by this issue for ID mobile to start looking into this issue properly.  Sorry for the shortness but you really don’t understand how annoying this is, even people that know I have a problem still try two or three times as.

Hi @Coopes

If the issue is intermittent it may be an issue of coverage in the area(s) in which it doesn’t work.

We’re not a live chat service here, this is a public forum, if you wish to speak directly and only to our agents, you’ll be able to use Live Chat, Facebook or Twitter.

Same issue,

New Google Pixel Fold, not ideal, needs resolving ASAP.

Never had any issues on previous networks, and not aware of anyone outside of ID experiencing these issues?

Dave

Although I don’t think I’ve had this issue as of yet, your posts did get me thinking. FWIW I too have call waiting and have not had voicemail now for 8 or so years.

@Coopes  I don’t have voicemail as I got fed up of getting a missed call, dailing voicemail for the message to say “give me a call”. So I turned it off.

Did you turn the voicemail facility off via your account too?

If not, via the iD Mobile app → Plan → Manage your iD services → voicemail toggle off and click save.

Do you also get a delay when making a call?

Now that might be explained by your phone calling over 3G. Since 3G was killed off (here) my delay has reduced dramatically - this is to be expected as it’s known that 4G calling is quicker.

@HU3D  but do you have WiFi calling enabled?

I currently do not have Wi-Fi calling enabled. Maybe this is a reason why in your case?

@Dave Haskey Have you checked your phones settings on the link posted above?

Only posting in case this points to a solution, or not. But I will start asking waiting callers if my phone rang when they first called. Most bizarre!!

Hey there @Dave Haskey, sorry to hear that.

Can you explain further your particular issue please, and how long you’ve had the issues?

Thanks,

Tyler

Okay so I out some feelers out over this and thus far one person has confirmed they got a “sorry the number you’re calling is not available, please try later”, when I was indeed on a call, whereas it should have given him the calling/dialing tone (as I have call waiting enabled). He called me later via WhatsApp instead and it was perfectly clear for the duration of the call.

I know that at that time my phone didn’t alert me to another incoming call, nor did I get a missed call in my phone registry.

The only thing to add is that my signal is currently rather poor indoors or outdoors. Could the weak signal be a cause?🙄

(edit. I meant to post this the other day and forgot until now)
