extra charges on bill without being notified

I have received a message that I have used my data but it appears that I have already been charged extra for going over my allowance before i received the txt, why is this? 
I have added a 6GB add on but realised I could change my plan and have more data. Can I cancel this and change my plan?

Hey there ​@Pebbles28, sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, we cannot cancel data add-ons I’m afaid. 

 

In terms of being charged, we would text you the moment you’ve used 100% of your data allowances, and then as soon as that happens, you’d begin being charged for further data if you’re still using data past that point. To avoid this in the future, we’d recommend changing plan to a higher data plan as you’ve mentioned, or setting your bill cap to £0.00, so that if you do use all your allowances, you won’t be charged anything past your regular contract cost, as we’d block any further data from being used or any further charges.

Hi Tyler, I was notified after I had already been charged. 
Can I change my plan without committing to a long term contract?
