Failed Credit Check

  • Community Member

I have failed my credit check for a phone contract despite currently having a good enough credit score to rent a property. I don’t understand how this can be the case and would appreciate some advise. I am also able to pay the full contract amount up front if that would be possible.

Hi @CSPW, there are a variety of reasons why you may have failed a credit check. A credit check can also fail if there’s a mismatch between the details provided, and the details that Equifax have for you. Equifax is the credit reference agency we use to run our credit checks.

You would also be able to apply for a subject access request if you’d like further insight on the information we hold on file for you, and the reason for the failure.

Unfortunately @CSPW, you’ll never know why your application failed the iD internal vetting process.

To protect themselves and their customers from bad actors looking to make fraudulent applications, doubtful any business would explain why an application failed.

Just buy a SIM free handset elsewhere - online Apple and Samsung offer 0% APR over 24-months.
