Question

how to change my old voicemail

I create a voicemail when I was younger for when I don’t pick up calls and now I want to change it as it’s not professional for work but it won’t let me. When I use the phone app it says it’s on default but when someone calls me I can still hear my old voicemail.

    Hi @Amxrah,

If you're still hearing your old voicemail greeting, you can usually change it by calling your voicemail.

Simply dial 123 from your iD Mobile phone and follow the prompts to manage your voicemail settings. There should be an option to record a new personal greeting or return to the default greeting.

Once you've updated the greeting, it's worth asking someone to leave you a test voicemail to check that the new message is being played.

We hope you're able to get it updated soon.

    Regards,

Hi, thanks for your reply. I've tried calling 123 and following the voicemail menu, but I'm still having the same issue.

I went to option 3 for voicemail greetings, then option 6 to manage the recording of my name. However, I'm only given these three options:

    • Press 1 to hear the system greeting with my name.
    • Press 2 to hear my recorded name.
    • Press 3 to re-record my name.

There isn't an option to delete my personal greeting or return to the default greeting. My iPhone also shows that my voicemail greeting is set to Default, but when someone calls me, i still hear my old system voicemail greeting with my name. And I don’t want this.

Could you please advise how I can remove the old greeting, or reset my voicemail greeting from your end if possible?

    thank you.

Think you need to disable v/mail completely; Then next day set up again.😊

    Hi @Amxrah,

    Thanks for providing those details.

From what you've described, it sounds like you're accessing the recorded name menu rather than the personal greeting menu. Unfortunately, there isn't an option to completely delete the recorded name from the voicemail system.

However, you can re-record it by selecting option 3, which would allow you to replace the existing recording with something more suitable and professional.

If your iPhone is already showing Default for the voicemail greeting, then the greeting being played is likely the system greeting using the name that's currently recorded on the voicemail service.

While we're unable to remove the recorded name entirely, re-recording it is usually the best way to update what callers hear.

    Hi Gemma,

I re-recorded without saying anything and it got rid of my old name recording.

    thank you for the advice.
