I tried texting Radio 5 this morning (85058) but the text wou;ldn’t send and I got a message saying I couldn’t text this number on ID Mobile.  I have texted them OK before.

I can text others today, it is just this number.

Hi @OonaghG, we were recently instructed by Three to remove certain shortcodes from our premium service. Unfortunately, a number of BBC numbers were included in this, including Radio 1 and indeed, Radio 5 Live.

Unfortunately, as Three provide our network infrastructure, there’s nothing we can do to circumvent this, so you won’t be able to message that number going forward. I’d recommend contacting them via alternate means if possible, such as Twitter DM, or by calling 08085 909693 which remains unaffected.

Thank you,

Rory

Hello @OonaghG, it’s possible that iD think this is a premium rate SMS number and that feature is turned OFF in your My Account online.

Maybe login to your account online and check the following setting is ON:

My Services > Premium.

Good luck!

Thank you @andewhite , but that’s not it, I’m afraid.  I just checked and premium services are ON already.  I have successfully texted this number before, I wonder what has changed?

Thanks @OonaghG,

While waiting for iD to investigate and fix you could try:
- Tweet Radio 5 Live using the handle “@bbc5live” (go here).
- Send them an email using “5live@bbc.co.uk”.

I think the 85058 short code goes to an SMS-to-email service anyway - good luck!
