I ported my number over to ID, unfortunately texts go to new ID number and calls go to old number. i have restarted the phone plenty of times and issue is not resolved. i just want both calls and texts to go to a single number whichi portrd to ID.

As per subject, I just want everything to go the ported number not two numbers. Can you help resolve this please?

Hi @talent.gombe ,

I would try resetting your mobile phone device’s Network Settings. Here’s a link to doing that on both iOS and Android (including Samsung)

https://www.androidpolice.com/reset-network-settings-android-ios/

Also on iPhones, you can also go into the Settings menu to Phone to check that it is showing your correct phone number and also select Messages and FaceTime where you can state which phone number and or email is assigned to each of those services.

Good Luck 🤞🏾

This worked for me.. but it took a number of attempts to remove the ID number.

although this has worked, it still doesn’t explain why the deactivated number continued to work. Surely when you port a number successfully, the other line becomes defunct as it’s disabled. Why then does it continue to receive messages or calls? Can you technically explain this to me please?

Sounds like a split port, @talent.gombe

This can happen if iD don’t receive all the required information from your old service provider. Given the old provider’s SIM still appears to be working, your port is incomplete for some reason.

Forum members won’t be able to fix this issue though, @talent.gombe.

So it’s an issue with porting process and not anything me as a user can do. I got all messages to say things had switched over and that my number was retained. The old SIM doesn’t work anymore and it’s not in the phone. ID SIM is in use and it should be IDs responsibility as the service owner to ensure porting process is successful. Myself as a user, have no access to systems to determine if anything is successful or not.

ID must take responsibility and ensure the process is smooth and any issues are corrected.

thanks for responding and my issue was resolved as stated by making changes to FaceTime, phone and messages settings. Thanks

Okay @talent.gombe, your problem can happen if you used the iD SIM in your iPhone before the number you’re keeping is switched to iD.

Sometimes the proprietary Apple iMessage and FaceTime services don’t register the SIM has been assigned a different number, after the switch is completed.

A NETWORK RESET of the handset will often fix the issue.

Yeah, If you have an iPhone, you just go the Settings and go Messages then go Send & Receive and there’s you need to remove your ID new number and set up to the Old number. I had faced the same problem, then I tried to this, and it’s solved.
