ID mobile data in Italy

Can I get a reply to the above please as I'm going to Italy today. 

The app isn't working and I can't get through to anyone by phone?

Assuming you’re not on PAYG, your data usage in Italy will just come out of your regular allowance.  I was in Italy last summer and all was good.  Free roaming 😀

Unfortunately iD Mobile don’t have a telephone support helpline, and their iD community is very much the slowest way of communicating with iD, @surfin. 

Quicker ways of chatting with iD support are through their online Live Chat service, or via their social media pages using Facebook Messenger or X (formerly Twitter) to send a private message (PM/DM).

The customer advisers work until 8pm on weekdays.

Oops - forgot, sorry.  Just need to make sure your roaming in your account is ‘on’.  Do you know if it is (or ‘was’)?  If not, perhaps get the Live Chat team to check just in case:

Your roaming data allowance for Italy depends on the date you joined iD Mobile, @surfin. 

It might not be the same as your UK data allowance.

I joined ID Mobile October 2023 taking out a 2 year contract?

I thought I was allowed upto 30GB usage?

And I am in the UK by the way,I'm going to Italy.

I’d recommend using the fair usage calculator which will let you know how much data you’ll be able to use while roaming.

Was in Italy for 3 weeks at Easter and my data roaming didn’t work at all. I went to Howly and they said it was all working and I should call the call centre of the Italian provider - ha!! Even if I had more than basic Italian this would be a nightmare.   I am going out again in 3 weeks and want it to work this time. The provider was Wind tre.

Sorry to hear this, I’m not sure who Howly are, but I wouldn’t recommend going to the Italian provider directly, while we have a roaming agreement with them, they wouldn’t be able to help you with an iD Mobile account, possibly generic assistance on coverage but not much more.

It may be worth resetting your network settings if you have issues with data roaming while abroad.

For iPhone;

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

For most Android;

Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth

For Samsung; 

Settings > General management > Reset > Reset mobile network settings

Resetting network settings will NOT reset any personal data (Photos, Videos, Contacts etc) only network settings.

Thanks Tom. I’ve tried going through the settings previously and if the roaming doesn’t work when I’m in Italy later in the month I’ll do what you suggest and, if I hit more problems,  be back to you to ask for more good advice.
