Question

iPhone settings still displaying original number not ported number

Ongoing issue with my ported number not showing as “My Number” in iPhone settings.

I have gone through various steps and I was issued a new SIM, which should have resolved the issue, but it is still showing “My Number” as the original ID Mobile generated number and not the ported number.

I have seen some comenta saying that you need to sign out of FaceTime and Messenger, but not sure how to actually do this.

Please advise as to the next steps and thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Hi @Condeus,

    Thanks for your message.

This is a fairly common issue on iPhones after a number port, where the device can continue displaying the original SIM number in “My Number” even though your ported number is active and working correctly.

You can usually resolve this by refreshing the number settings on your device. Please follow the steps below:

    For iPhone:

    • Go to Settings
    • Tap Phone
    • Tap My Number
    • Delete the old number
    • Enter your correct (ported) number
    • Tap Save

    Then refresh iMessage:

    • Go to Settings
    • Tap Messages
    • Turn iMessage OFF
    • Go to Settings > General
    • Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone
    • Choose Reset
    • Tap Reset Network Settings
    • Once your iPhone restarts, go back to:
      • Settings > Messages
    • Turn iMessage ON again

This should prompt your iPhone to re-register the SIM and correctly display your ported number.

If it still doesn’t update after following the above steps, let us know and we can look into it further for you.

but it won’t save the new number I inserted?

    Hi @SachaD.

Thanks for trying those steps. To help us work out what’s going on, could you confirm:

Are you able to make and receive calls and texts on the phone now?

When someone calls or texts you, what number do they see, your sim number or your new (ported) number?

And in Settings > Phone > My Number, what exactly is shown there now (the old number, the new number, or something else)?

    Thanks,

    Marquerita
