My phone will not allow me to ring landline numbers. I checked all my settings and restarted my phone and it worked fine. Then in the middle of a call it stopped working again & now it won’t let me ring out again!! I have an iPhone 12 pro Max.

Hi @Mariamzaman,

We're sorry to hear you're having trouble calling landline numbers.

If you're able to call mobiles but not landlines, there are a few things that could be causing this.

Firstly, some landline numbers (such as service numbers or certain non-geographic numbers) are classed as out-of-plan and require your bill cap to be set above £0.00 before the call can connect.

If your bill cap is already high enough, we'd recommend trying the following:

  • Turn Airplane Mode on for around 30 seconds, then back off.
  • Ensure your network selection is set to Automatic.
  • Reset your network settings (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings).
  • Make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS.

As the call worked initially before stopping again, it may also indicate a temporary network registration issue.

If you've tried all of the above and the problem continues, please contact our Customer Service team via Live Chat so they can run further checks on your line and investigate the issue further: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

That is a generic copy paste that you did which is found all over the internet. I tried it several times before posting on here.

I even talked to you guys on the webchat and you ended up blaming my phone.

Both my sons’ who are with different providers used their sim in my phone and could call out to landline numbers with zero issues.

I have been using iD for months and this problem appeared out of nowhere.

I had to figure it out myself.

anyone with iphone who needs help, don’t bother with iD’s customer services, they are not able to help you and will just blame your phone.

Here is the fix I found. ID no longer wants to work in auto 5G. You need to go to Mobile Data Options in Settings and then in ‘Voice and Data’, you need to select 4G.

Hi @Mariamzaman.

Thanks for sharing the update. I understand how frustrating this must have been, especially after trying multiple fixes.

Just to clarify, not all landline numbers are treated the same. Some landline or non-geographic numbers can be classed as out of plan. If your bill cap is set to £0.00, these calls will be blocked from connecting.

If a call started working and then dropped, it could also indicate that a spend limit or call allowance was reached at that time, or that there’s a restriction on the account preventing those call types from completing.

To make sure everything is correctly set up and there’s nothing blocking outgoing calls on your line, it would be best to review your account in detail.

Please contact us directly via live chat here so we can check this properly for you: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat.

Thanks,

I have called my doctors, my dentist, my council, my workplace, specsavers, health centres, my grandma’s house, hub centre for work purposes on their landlines without any issues before and all these landline numbers are not out of my unlimited minutes and text plan. Yet they all stopped working. Yet miraculously when I put my sim in my sons phone, all those numbers worked… Yes you are right and have so proved, talking to customer services is continuously frustrating!

Hi @Mariamzaman,

Thank you for coming back to us and for carrying out that test.

Based on what you've described, the fact that all of these numbers work when your SIM is placed into your son's phone would strongly suggest that the issue isn't with the SIM card, your account, or the network. Instead, it points towards either a setting on your iPhone or the device itself.

We completely understand that troubleshooting can sometimes feel repetitive or generic, but we do recommend it because we've seen these steps resolve similar issues for other customers in the past.

As your SIM is working correctly in another handset, we'd recommend focusing on the device itself and, if none of the above resolves the issue, contacting Apple Support for further diagnostics.

We appreciate your patience and hope one of the above steps gets everything working normally again.
