Issue logging into instagram

Does anyone else have any issues accessing Instagram on data, when I open the app it gives me a "couldn't refresh feed" ? I'm able to access everything fine on WiFi and all other apps. I'm using Google pixel 8 pro

I've tried the following

- reinstalling app, also not on any beta versions

- logging out/in (sometimes this would work temporarily)

- restarting phone

Appreciate any help!

For anyone having this issue I think I found it, the Google one VPN was the cause. I've now just added Instagram to be excluded for the VPN, and it's now working :)

I'm having the exact same problem, tried all the above...using the Google 8 Pro just for reference with iD mobile.

Glad I’m not the only one, has this happened to you recently? For me, it started around a month ago.
I’ve also reported the issue to Instagram but not holding my breath out for a fix anytime soon

Hi @Frankieee, a quick question on this. Are you able to access Instagram via WIFI, and it’s data specifically that’s blocking access?

@Frankieee,

It sounds like your issue is with Instagram as other apps are working fine.

Have you tried the SIM in another handset and checked if Instagram works on that handset?

If you are using an iPhone on Mobile/Cellular Data, you must allow internet access to the Instagram app in Settings.

@Kash I’ve tried the sim card in another device (Pixel 4 XL) and that doesn’t seem to have any issues

I'm having this exact same problem on my pixel 8. I've followed advice to fix it and it's not worked. I've raised a complaint with the network and.still it's not working. Maybe it's a pixel issue?

Hi @Frankieee & @Finmoo

Every here having issues appears to be on a Pixel device, has a network settings reset been tried?

Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth

Resetting network settings will NOT reset any personal data (Photos, Videos, Contacts etc) only network settings.

Okay @Frankieee, your Instagram app works on a Pixel 4 XL, but not a Pixel 8 Pro?

Are these devices using the same version of Android?

Perhaps dark arts by Google, directed against META?

@andewhite Hahaha maybe. They are not using the same versions, Pixel 4xl is on the latest possible (Android 13) and Pixel 8 Pro is on Android 14.

It’s strange that they were working a few months ago

Hi @Frankieee

We’d recommend contacting Google or Meta for further support.
