Hello, I’m planning a trip abroad and wanting to keep my number for banking purposes. How do I stop my sim from de activating? Such as do I need to text someone every so often?

If you',re travelling within most European countries, you will use your phone just like you do at home. It's only when you change the sim card in your phone that the number changes.

Will you be using a pay monthly iD SIM, or a pay-as-you-go iD SIM instead, for your trip abroad, @Lucy Graves?

I’d want to carry on with a sim only, I’ve looked at the £6 a month rolling contract

While abroad, you’ll keep your number if you continue to pay monthly for any iD SIM-only plan, @Lucy Graves.

I’ll be going around south east Asia for a prolonged period and I don’t want to lose my number. Do I need to text someone every so often?

Hi @Lucy Graves  you would only need to do this if your plan was a pay as you go plan. If it is a contract, then no, it will just continue as normal.

For SE Asia you'd be better buying a local sim or using an esim.

It'll cost a bomb with ID. Does your phone allow two sim cards?
