Lost sim so upgraded my plan to keep number but how do I get newly activated sim to use my original number ,? Steve

HI sorry for not getting back to you , I still need help , I lost my sim I can get into my online account but I have no way of associating a new sim with that account I have tried activating the sim in the account but it's says it's activating but nothing happens , Do I need to cancel my account as I am paying for something I can't use, Can you help ,
