new sim card cannot be seen by phone

My mother purchased a new contract from you the other. The SIM card provided cannot be seen by the phone at all still says no SIM in the top corner. I also have a id mobile so have put it in my phone and same problem the phone cannot see. It she had got another id mobile SIM card how does she transfer her contract number to the new ID SIM card when it hasn't been activated yet is this possible???

Alas, that sounds like a faulty SIM card @Lawrence Tremlett

This forum article might help in this situation. 

The mobile number linked with the faulty SIM, would be transferred to replacement SIM, once the replacement has been activated, which is initiated by the customer.

The account holder will be able to pick up a replacement SIM card from any Currys store (or by contacting us directly) and be able to activate it at the following link;
