Hello,

I re-joined ID mobile a couple of weeks back. I provided my PAC and the numebr transfer completed as expected however I’ve just realised that when sending text messages, they are being sent as the temporary number ID mobile provided with the sim.

Please can somebody help?

Thanks,

Hello.

I have a SIM only 30 day rolling plan.

I’m using a Honor Magic 5 Pro. My sim is an e-SIM with no other physical or e-SIM enabled.

When I load message settings, If I select RCS Chats, I have the option to turn on or off RCS chat. Its currently enabled, and shows a SIM card icon labelled iD Mobile and displays the temporary ID mobile number that I was provided with originally.

Thanks,

Hi there @leew-2011, please try the following:

1) Open Messages, go to Settings (top right, Message Settings), open "Chat Features" or "RCS Chats", verify if this is the correct number or not.

2) If it shows the incorrect one, then head to: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat and you should be able to unregister the number. Once done, turn off the Chat Features/RCS and the phone. Wait a few minutes and turn the device back on and re-enable Chat Features/RCS it should let you re-register/update to the correct number.

Alternatively, you can turn Chat Features/RCS off and test SMS after this.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hello Tyler,

Thanks for this information but unfortunately it doesn’t work. I can’t unregister the number with the URL provided because its asks you to enter the mobile number in order to send it a security code. I cannot recieve texts to this number.

I’ve already disabled RCS chats, powered the device off, powered back on again, then re-enabled RCS chat, and the issue is still the same.

Just to reitterate, I can receive text message to my number fine, however, when sending a text, it is being sent from the temporary number ID mobile provided me with then i registered.

When i open Messages > Select “Messages Settings”, “RCS Chats”, It shows “iD Mobile” and the temporary number i was provided with a couple of weeks ago.

Hey there @leew-2011, sorry to hear that. If you turn of RCS chats, and then try and send a text via regular SMS, does the same issue occur?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi @Laolou,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

If you're able to receive text messages on your transferred number, but your outgoing texts are being sent from the temporary iD Mobile number you were originally assigned, this isn't the expected behaviour, and we'd like to help get it resolved.

To make sure we provide the correct troubleshooting steps, could you please let us know the make and model of your phone?

Once we have this information, we'll guide you through the appropriate steps to resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Tashnieka

Hi @Laolou

Could you please try the steps below to see if they resolve the issue?

Check your phone number
Go to Settings > About phone > Phone number.
If it shows a temporary number instead of your actual number, your SIM/eSIM may not have updated correctly.
Restart your phone
A simple restart can refresh your network registration.
Turn off RCS (Chat features)
Open the Google Messages app.
Tap your profile picture > Messages settings > RCS chats.
Turn RCS chats off.
Restart your phone, then turn RCS chats back on and allow it to register using your correct number.
Reset your network settings
Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset mobile network settings (or Reset network settings, depending on your software version).
Reconnect to the mobile network and test the service again.

Hi Michael. I have tried all of those steps but I still have the same problem. When RCS is on it is still showing the temporary number.
