Old Number Still Showing

Hi

  1. I had an Oppo phone which was on the EE network.
  2. I bought a Pixel phone and changed to the ID Mobile network.
  3. My Sim card (in Settings on the new Pixel phone) is showing my original number on Sim card 1.
  4. People who phone me and text me are using my original number.
  5. BUT, and here’s the twist, when I text or phone people, the number they see is the temporary number I was given while between networks.
  6. What do I do so that the number people see is my original one and not the temporary one?

Thanks

Bart

Hey there @Bart999, welcome to Community!

Please try the following:

1) Open Messages, go to Settings (top right, Message Settings), open "Chat Features" or "RCS Chats", verify if this is the correct number or not.

2) If it shows the incorrect one, then head to: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat and you should be able to unregister the number. Once done, turn off the Chat Features/RCS and the phone. Wait a few minutes and turn the device back on and re-enable Chat Features/RCS it should let you re-register/update to the correct number.

Alternatively, you can turn Chat Features/RCS off and test SMS after this.

Thanks,

Tyler
