People I'm speaking to can't hear me when I'm reading out numbers

Hi, I've been experiencing this problem for a few years now and so have a few of my friends and work colleagues.

If I'm having a conversation with any normal friend or colleague, they can hear me perfectly and hear numbers when I read them out, If I'm speaking to a large company like HMRC or the NHS, If I read out numbers for example my NHS number most of the numbers get blocked and they can't hear me saying the numbers and only the numbers.

They hear about two numbers and then they miss a few numbers and then they hear the rest of the numbers. Its like something on the network is trying to protect me from reading out numbers like bank card numbers.

It only seems to happen when I'm speaking to companies, If I read the number out in a different format they can hear me.

For example if I wanted to tell them the number 4000 , If I read that out four zero zero zero they won't be able to hear me saying those numbers but if I read that out as four thousand they hear it perfectly.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

Hi @Rfhspares

We’re sorry to hear this.

Have you tried resetting your network settings?

Yes I have tried resetting my settings , I have even had this problem on multiple different devices, granted they are all Samsung devices so the problem could be Samsung but I'm unsure.

I know at least three other people that are having the same issue and are all with ID and we all use Samsung phones.

It would be nice to find out if the problem is with Samsung or ID

Hey there @Rfhspares, thank you for that. From reading the above, if it’s only from when you’re speaking to businesses and the numbers are seemingly being blocked out when you’re reading them out in a specific format, then I’d suggest that is something to do with Samsung opposed to ourselves, as we/Three UK don't prevent customers from reading out numbers when on the phone.

Therefore, I’d recommend contacting Samsung directly to investigate this further, as they may be able to resolve this or at least explain why they do so, if they do.

Thanks,

Tyler
