Phone cannot be used since a Samsung update downloaded yesterday morning.  Managed a restart but no longer accepting PIN.  Can anyone advise on what to do please?

Hi @Lady T,

We're sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Samsung device following the recent software update.

If your phone is no longer accepting your PIN after the update, we'd recommend trying the following first:

  • Restart the device once more if possible.
  • Double-check that you're entering the correct PIN (it's easy to accidentally confuse it with a SIM PIN or another passcode).
  • If your phone has been restarted several times, ensure you're entering the device PIN rather than using biometrics, as Samsung devices often require the PIN after a reboot.
  • If possible, leave the phone for a few minutes before trying again, as it may still be completing background processes from the update.

If the PIN still isn't accepted, the next steps would be to:

  • Visit a Samsung Service Centre or an authorised Samsung repair provider, where they can assess the device and advise on the best course of action.
  • If no other option is available, you may need to perform a factory reset. Please be aware that this can erase any data that hasn't been backed up.

We hope you're able to get your phone back up and running as soon as possible.

Regards,
