Port Old ID Mobile No to New ID Mobile Contract

Hi,

We have a pay monthly IDMobile contract, just purchased another phone and contract from IDMobile. Now I want to port the old number to the new contract.

How do I do it? Who do I need to contact - or even how do I contact anybody at ID Mobile?

Thanks

Daniel

If direct debit setup for the old (closed) iD account is still active, any credit on the account is usually refunded that way on the next billing cycle, @Daniel Coe.

Like many businesses, iD Mobile like to keep their creditors waiting.

Hi Daniel,

I believe you cannot port internally at the moment.  The only way is to port out (e.g. via another provider’s PAYG service) and then once done, you can port back in but to the new service/SIM.

I take it the cheapest way to do that is get a PAYG free SIM and do it that way?

Hi @Daniel Coe

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to move a number directly from one iD Mobile account to another iD Mobile account. We'd require a PAC code from another network to move a number to an account.

In this case, you may be able to try the following triangle port method;

1) Get a PAC code for the number you wish to keep.

2) Purchase a Pay As You Go (PAYG) SIM from any OTHER network.

3) Give your PAC code to the new PAYG SIM provider to transfer your number from iD Mobile to the PAYG network.

4) Once it's been transferred over, this sends your number to the new network on PAYG and cancels your old contract with us automatically, the final bill will be sent via email.

5) Once the number has fully transferred to the PAYG network allow 24 hours and then request a PAC code from them.

6) Transfer your number to the new iD Mobile plan via PAC code at the link below, once the transfer is fully complete your PAYG SIM will be disconnected and the desired number will be on the new iD Mobile account.

Note; With a new iD Mobile account, you'll need to register a new iD Mobile app/website account to using an email address that hasn't been used previously to register.

Just to say, I have now completed the triangular port.

I now need to close the original account, does that happen automatically if that plan/account no longer has the number originally allocated to it? Or do I have to contact someone (who?) or can I close the account via the app and finalise the billing?

Thanks

Daniel

Your original iD account should’ve been closed when you used your PAC, to move the number you wanted to keep, to a non-iD Mobile service provider, @Daniel Coe

Given some ongoing issues with iD customer accounts, following the planned upgrades of the iD app and “My iD Account” online services, perhaps this went wrong.

Thanks, I have now had a final bill email, which is still in credit, so hopefully should get a small refund soon.
