RCS Chat

My old number won't transfer over to my RCS chats. I have tried verifying my correct number but it always turns back to the incorrect number, I have tried resetting my phone, I have tried removing the sim card and then putting it back in, I have followed the instructions from Google by turning off RCS chats on my previous device and that hasn't worked. Really at a loss of what to do, can anyone offer some advice?

Hi @amyratcliffe97

Have you tried turning off RCS on the current device for a few days and then back on later?

Hi Tom,

Sorry for the late reply! I have now had my RCS chats turned off for the best part of a month, I have tried again tonight and it still won't transfer. I think I'm just going to give up on the whole thing at this point, it's more annoying for the people who are messaging me as they have two text threads than it is for me.

Thank you for your time replying, I do appreciate that:)

Hi @amyratcliffe97

Okay, has a replacement SIM been tried?

Hi. I had the same problem, but managed to fix it without having to get a replacement sim.

- Long press on your Google Messages app

- Click on the "i" icon in the top right hand corner

- Scroll down to storage and tap that

- Tap on clear data and clear cache

- Dismiss the Google Messages app

- Reopen the Google Messages app and it should then re-register with your ported number when you go back in to RCS Chats under Message Settings

Ps : you will not lose any of your sms/rcs chat history: all of my messages were intact.
