receiving texts from other phones but not from Ebay or Instagram

Hi

Only moved to ID Mobile this week. I have an issue I would like some help on. I transferred my  number using a PAC code. I am receiving calls on my correct number. I can also send texts outwards. However the number coming up on the other persons phone. is the number on the sim when I was sent the account. That number cannot be rang or texted but tells the person the incorrect number. Using a RedMi note9 phone.

Also cannot receive texts from Ebay UK or Instagram.

Any ideas please

Hey there @Happyhippo, sorry to hear that

Please try the following:

1) Open Messages, go to Settings (top right, Message Settings), open "Chat Features" or "RCS Chats", verify if this is the correct number or not.

2) If it shows the incorrect one, then head to: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat and you should be able to unregister the number. Once done, turn off the Chat Features/RCS and the phone. Wait a few minutes and turn the device back on and re-enable Chat Features/RCS it should let you re-register/update to the correct number.

Alternatively, you can turn Chat Features/RCS off and test SMS after this.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi @Happyhippo,

Welcome to the Community!

Is the issue occuring with both calls and texts?

Did you receive confirmation that port had completed?

If so the below may help.

1. Disconnect phone from WiFi. Very important.

2. Make sure phone uses the SIM internet either 4G or 5G. Make sure mobile data is on.

3. Got to messages and click force stop on its  settings.

4. Click clear cache

5. Click clear data.

6. Restart phone.

7. Go to messages and turn on chat

8. On phone number ..add 0 after country suffix.

i.e if country code is +44 ..next field start with 07xxx

9. Give it a few minutes. Less than a minute and check

The other option is

In Messages app, go to Messages Settings.

Select "Chat Features", scroll to bottom of page and select link "LEARN MORE"

Scroll down to section "TURN CHAT FEATURES ON OR OFF"

select link "to turn off chat features" - https://messages.google.com/disable-chat?

Followed prompts for "WITHOUT YOUR PREVIOUS DEVICE"

Wait about ten minutes and turned Chat Features back on, on the new phone.

Many thanks for you message Kash.

Unfortunately it has not solved the issue.

I think I can see the problem although no idea how to solve.

My mobile number should end in 21 ( which rings okay if I call it from my land line)

Still not receiving texts from Ebay etc. When I went into chats, as per your instructions, I noticed the number ends in 988 which is the number on my sim card, sent by ID mobile this week. I have had the message regarding switch complete.

Anymore thoughts Kash?

Barry

Many thanks Tyler.

Disabling in RCS Chats and adding correct number appears to have solved the problem.

best wishes
