Ok. I was going to Ireland from the UK and at the UK ferry pory i turned on roaming as i can use my allowance in Ireland. Then mid way across i get a message that i was near my cap and had £25 lobbed ontop of my monthly bill. Whats this all about? Thanks

This will be because you will have used roaming while at sea. 

When you’re at sea, we recommend you don’t use your phone, and put it in flight/airplane mode until you get to shore. This is because using your phone while at sea can be very expensive.

Ferry and cruise operators often use their own phone network that’s operated via satellite. Connecting to a satellite network is much more expensive then connecting to a land operated network.
