Hi @Parv

This is the information I have found with regards to your enquiry:-

Whether roaming needs to be activated when you're abroad depends on your mobile provider and plan, but generally you'll need to enable data roaming within your phone's settings. Some providers may also require you to activate roaming through their specific settings or by contacting customer support.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

1. Data Roaming Settings on Your Phone:

  • Automatic Activation:

Smartphones often automatically connect to available networks when you travel, but you'll still need to enable "data roaming" within your phone's mobile data settings for it to work.

  • How to Enable:

On most phones, you can find this setting under "Settings" > "Connections" > "Mobile networks" or similar (the exact path may vary slightly by device). Ensure "Data Roaming" is toggled on.

2. Provider-Specific Activation:

  • Check with your provider:

Some providers, especially for Pay Monthly or Pay As You Go plans, might have specific procedures for activating roaming.

  • Roaming add-ons:

Some providers might offer roaming add-ons or packages that you need to activate or purchase to use data abroad without incurring high charges.

  • Contacting Support:

If you're unsure or having trouble, contact your mobile provider's customer support for guidance.

3. Avoiding Charges:

  • WiFi: When possible, use WiFi to avoid data roaming charges.
  • Check your provider's roaming rates: Familiarize yourself with your provider's roaming charges before you travel.
  • Set a spending limit: Consider setting a spending limit or cap on your roaming charges to avoid unexpected costs.

In summary: While your phone will likely connect to a foreign network automatically, you'll need to enable "data roaming" within your phone's settings and potentially check with your provider for any additional activation requirements or roaming add-ons and check for extra connection costs where you are using your phone and if these are included in your plan.

Hope this helps x
