Question

Sim Activation

My new iD Mobile SIM is inserted in a Samsung Galaxy A34. The phone recognises it as iD Mobile and the SIM is enabled. It has full signal bars and detects iD when searching for networks, but it remains on “Emergency calls only”. Manually selecting iD gives “Unable to connect. Try later”, and the phone briefly displayed “SIM 2 not allowed”. The APN is already set to iD. Please check whether the new SIM has been fully activated/provisioned and whether there is any block preventing it registering on the network.

    Hi @Indigo-Brad,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble getting the SIM connected.

From what you've described, the phone is detecting the SIM and iD Mobile network, but it's not successfully registering, which is why you're seeing "Emergency calls only" and "Unable to connect. Try later".

Before assuming there's an issue with the SIM activation, could you try the following:

    • Restart the phone.
    • Turn Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then turn it back off.
    • Remove the SIM card, wait a minute, then reinsert it.
    • Ensure the phone software is fully up to date.
    • Set Network Operators to Automatic.
    • Check that the network mode is set to 5G/4G/3G/2G (Auto Connect).

Reset Network Settings (Samsung Galaxy A34)

    • Open Settings.
    • Tap General Management.
    • Select Reset.
    • Tap Reset Mobile Network Settings.
    • Confirm the reset.
    • Restart the phone.

If possible, it would also be worth testing the SIM in another unlocked handset to see whether the issue follows the SIM or remains with the Samsung.

If you've tried all of the above and the SIM still won't register on the network, please contact our Customer Service Team via Live Chat. They can check whether the SIM has been fully activated and, if necessary, arrange a replacement SIM card for testing: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

When using Live Chat, please ask for Customer Service so you're connected to the correct team.

    Regards,
