starting out. sim only on order. old number pac code recd. dl the app. created acc. now stuck on how to finish acc set up and port my old number across.

Hi. I have ordered a sim only.  I have created an account and downloaded the app.  The sim comes with its own number but I want to keep my old number.  I have pac code for that.  When I try to set up my account it says it sent verification to the new number (which I dont have sim for yet.   Do I wait for sim to arrive.  Put it in my phone.  Go thru process and once account is set up do i enter my pac code for old number into that?  I dont want to lose old number.
