Phone received today (13th) but switching date to retain my number is 20th Jan. Does this mean I cannot start up the phone until that date?

Welcome and thank you for reaching out to us here on the community.
On the iD Mobile SIM, you will have a temporary number to use until the port completes on the 20th January.
This means you can use the phone/SIM but it won’t be the previous number. You are also welcome to pop you old SIM in to the handset until the port is complete.
