I have recently move to ID and have taken my old number. When people message me on my old number my reply is going to them under the wrong number. The number is work in the settings. How do I correct this?

Hi @Stephanie Chittenden, can you follow the below steps for me? This should work.

A network reset can also do the trick if the number gets stuck updating.

1) Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)

2) Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)

3) Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct.

4) If it is not correct, please enter the correct number

5) Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)

6) Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under "Start new conversations from:"

If you are having issues with step 4 please reset network settings and try again.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

It often depends on the make of your handset, @Stephanie Chittenden

What handset are you using with your iD SIM card?

Have you tried the following steps, @Stephanie Chittenden

  1. Turn OFF iMessage
  2. Turn OFF FaceTime
  3. Turn OFF your iPhone
  4. Carefully remove your SIM card and check it’s clean + undamaged
  5. Insert your iD SIM card, then turn ON your iPhone
  6. Turn ON iMessage
  7. Turn ON FaceTime

Hopefully Apple will then accept the mobile number linked with your iPhone device is the number you switched to iD.

Have you tried a NETWORK RESET, @Stephanie Chittenden

The iOS user guide explains how to undertake this procedure.

Hi.

Go to settings → Mobile Data → You will then see a section saying ‘My Number’  which’ll display your temporary number and then click on your temporary number, change it to the number you transferred, and then to confirm, activate FaceTime and iMessage on it by going back to the main page of settings → scroll down to iMessage → Send & Receive → Tap on your want-to-transfer number and wait for it to activate, then swipe out of iMessage, go to FaceTime and do the same. Then call / message another iPhone user and ask them to tell you what number it is being received from. Whether it is your temp. Number or your main/transferred number.

Thank you everyone for your help. I’ve changed the number in settings and this has fixed the problem.
