My new iPhone will not receive authorisation code texts from banks sent for security purposes although I can receive other texts and phone call on my number

Hi @nathan69

Have you tried disconnecting your Wifi Calling? Sometimes this interferes with certain texts being received.

I have also seen these answers to the same problem from other iPhone owners…..

Generally, those verification codes or OTP messages are sent using Short Code Text Messaging. These short code text messages are received from a 5 or 6 digit phone number. This capability/feature is provided and managed by your carrier. I recommend that you contact your carrier and tell them about not receiving verification codes which may be sent over short code messaging service. Their support team should be able to address this for you and find a resolution.’

‘I had this problem. I spoke with my carrier (EE) and they had to change the settings to allow short SMS and third party messages. The settings where restricted (for some reason)

You can speak to an adviser on Live chat (Type ‘talk to a person’ in the dialogue box to bypass the questions) to ask them to check if these types of texts are restricted or not…….

Please be aware that the connection to an adviser (and any replies) may take some time as they are handling other customer queries at the same time. They will only start a chat with you when they are free to do so and this can take >30 mins so you need to be patient.

Good Luck x

Thanks Tyler I went via the live chat and the problem with receiving  normal texts has resolved itself.  iMessage still does not work and I have carried out all of the five suggested solutions.a number of times, to no avail.

Hi @nathan69,

Are you getting any errors with iMessage?

Does it state activating etc?

It may be worth contacting Apple if there is an activation issue.

I have just tried toggling iMessage and it is now working.  So all good.  Thanks for coming back to me and thanks for the call.
