travelliing to UAE

Hi, I’ve arrived in Dubai today and turned my phone on and received a message 30 seconds later saying I’ve used all my data allowance and I can see I’ve been charged £45 extra on my next bill. I did nothing apart from turn my phone on and then activate airplane mode. How I can get these charges refunded. Or how do I lodge a complaint? Thanks

Here are the charges for UAE. I wouldn’t recommend using your iD Mobile SIM out there, it’s very expensive!

To put it in perspective £45 equals just 4.6MB of data. That’s Megabytes, not Gigabytes!

Your mobile phone uses small amounts of data in the background from the moment you turn it on. Checking for app updates, software updates etc. Unfortunately, this is not an error on iD Mobile’s part and the charges are valid.

Can’t hurt to ask for a refund though!
