two numbers and no signal

I moved to ID a couple of months ago and used a PAC number to transfer my mobile number over. Since then I’ve had two numbers (a primary and a secondary) and I can’t get it to just be my usual mobile number. I’ve tried resetting my phone multiple times as seen recommended on here but it isn’t working.

alongside this I also have 0 signal on one number (judging by the signal bars at the top of the screen) and better signal on another. My phone won’t receive calls from most people and when I call people the signal is so bad I can’t hear them.

any help would be greatly appreciated as it seems incredibly difficult to actually speak to someone on this network.

Hi @BethS,

Welcome to the Community!

Are you able to remove/delete the secondary number and update the primary one?

Do you have 2 iD Mobile contracts or just the one?

I would advise checking the checking the link below for your coverage and network status.

If there are any issues in the area these will reflect on the link.

Hi Kash,

Thanks for the response!
so my old number (which I transferred) is from an EE contact and the secondary number (which I don’t want) is linked to the ID contract.

I can’t seem to delete it. When I’ve gone on my phone information in settings it says secondary-network ID and provider ID and primary- network not available and provider EE

Is it possible the number didn’t transfer over properly? Or am I just not looking in the right place to delete the secondary number

thank you!

Hi there @BethS

So you’ve hopefully removed the old EE SIM/eSIM from the phone. Though if you’re seeing 2 different network signal strengths it sounds like your old EE SIM/eSIM is still in/on the phone. Has EE sent you a final bill yet?

And the phone is showing 2 numbers, one being your original number you want and another number that came on the iD SIM that you don’t want. Assuming the EE SIM/eSIM was removed then what I’d suggest next is to check your phone is set correctly by following the relevant section on this link (it has iPhone, most Samsung phones and most other Android based phones)

Thanks Daz!

I did swap the sims over when I got the new phone so it has the new ID sim in it and then I used a PAC number to transfer.
EE sent the final bill a few months ago which has been paid and I no longer have a phone account with them.

phone is showing two number as you said. Primary is my transferred number which I want to keep (which is still saying EE network provider) and has no signal bars and the secondary is the number which came with the ID sim which is showing 2 signal bars.

I’ve followed the link you sent and tried a network reset however there are still two numbers. When I went to the apps section and then phone, my number, it has primary and secondary on there. On my Apple ID, sign in and security it has my primary number (the one I want).

Thank you for your help so far!

No problem @BethS happy to (try to) help.

I’m not the best one to advise on iPhones (Android myself)

Okay, so you’re clear of EE then and they shouldn’t have ‘ownership’ of your number.

When you say swap the SIMs over, do you mean physically ejecting and thus removing the old EE SIM (or deleting the old EE eSIM) and then putting the new iD SIM in the same slot on the phone?

If you’re no longer with EE you really shouldn’t be leaving their SIM in your phone as it serves no real purpose now. Ideally you should cut it up (or destroy it in another way) as some SIMs retain data.

Or are you saying there is only one iD SIM or iD eSIM in your phone currently?

Hi @BethS

It may be worth checking the above linked article from @Daz_S and possibly speaking directly to Apple about support on primary/secondary/travel SIM selections, this setting can often muddle with numbers and devices.

It is also an option to back everything up, factory reset the phone and start again using only the iD Mobile SIM card.

Thank you both!

so when I switched to ID I got a new iPhone so my EE sim was never in this phone at all. I unpackaged the new iPhone and just put the ID sim in. EE sim stayed in my old iPhone whilst I did the transfer.

I’ll contact Apple and see if they can support in any way. I’ve tried switching the secondary number off but then it leaves my primary number which has no signal and I can’t send or receive anything. Nightmare!

thanks again!

That makes sense now.

New iPhone new iD SIM.

But your Apple account is still associated to your details hence this issue. There are several how to’s on the www regarding the removal of old Apple devices from your Apple account. Others on these forums whom own an iPhone would probably be able to point you to what to do but as I’m not that good on iPhones so I wouldn’t want to offer the wrong advice.

But taking both phones into an Apple store might be less stress.
