Unable to send/receive calls, can still send SMS. Phone recognised as 'UNKNOWN_SENDER!'

about phone is unknown also

So for a few months I’ve been unable to send or receive calls. SMS seems to work fine after a short delay but this is how my phone is recognised. I’ve looked through several forums and tried the tests and fixes (airplane mode, safe mode, resets, settings resets, etc.) and nothing has worked. Has my number been cloned by spammers and been blocked? I’m not sure what’s happened here really. Phone is Pixel 3a - Android version 12 (last version before support was stopped. Had worked fine for nearly 2 years after that though)

Any help would be massively appreciated as I’ve been missing a lot of important calls recently. Thanks

Looks like a message from Google not iD Mobile, @Connor K Silo

The Google Messages app will use the RCS (Rich Communication Service) protocol for ‘text’ messages, unless you turn off “Chat features” in the Messages app.

The following steps sometimes help fix issues when using Google’s RCS protocol:

  1. Turn OFF RCS chats (“Chat features”) in the Google Messages app.
  2. Turn OFF the handset and carefully remove SIM card.
  3. Check SIM card is clean and undamaged, before re-inserting your iD SIM card.
  4. Turn ON the handset.
  5. Turn ON RCS chats.

Thanks for your assistance @andewhite

Tried those checks and the problem persists, no mobile network at all.

I went to call settings and was prompted with a network / sim error

Sim seems fine, it’s a replacement I ordered a week or so ago to try and fix the errors

Getting a network / SIM error suggests the replacement SIM might not be activated, @Connor K Silo

You can do this online at https://my.idmobile.co.uk/activate-sim-outside.

Activated the sim as soon as I got it, received the confirmation text suggesting everything was fine though nothing changed, still no mobile network. The coverage checker tool suggests that my area should be absolutely fine also

Unusual for a physical SIM activation to happen immediately, @Connor K Silo

Perhaps there’s a network fault in your area.

You can check for network faults online, @Connor K Silo.

Enter a postcode at https://www.three.co.uk/support/network-and-coverage/coverage.

Hi @Connor K Silo

Are you getting any bars of signal while using the replacement SIM?

If so, it’ll be activated.

If not, it may still need activating.
