I have just joined ID I have transferred my old number over and now I cannot send SMS messages to android or other devices. When I open up my settings I don’t have the option for messages available either ! So I can’t turn off Imessage or reset my message settings.

Hi @ljwaterston

I’d recommend the following;

1) Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2) Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3) Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct.
4) If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5) Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6) Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under "Start new conversations from:"

If you are having issues with step 4 please reset network settings and try again.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Did you put the iD SIM in prior to your old providers SIM stopped their service @ljwaterston?

It sounds like the provisional* iD SIM phone number was retained by the phone and thus after your number went live it’s messed the phones settings up. That explains the advice above as in most cases that fixes this issue.

You could try (with the phone on) ejecting the SIM, switch the phone off, switch the phone back on, allow it to fully boot (ignoring any no network messages) and then reinsert the SIM. Then check to see if it now works

The other option I would suggest would be to sign out of iMessenger online not via the phone - adjust the settings and sign back on - there are many how to’s out there. Note I am not an iPhone user so others might suggest a better method.

*all new SIMs have to have a number allocated to them whether you use that number or your own.

Hi @ljwaterston

The option should be right there on any updated iPhone, have you checked for software updates?
