USA international roaming charges whilst on ferry

Last night I travelled between UK and Netherlands on a ferry. Upon waking, my mobile alerts inform me that I have been in US territory and as such my roaming charges were activated. I have been asleep the whole time, not used my mobile and now have a £45 charge (this is my additional charge limit). How do I have this removed from my bill? Thank you for any help.

Unfortunately, if your phone wasn’t in flight mode, it would have connected to the Ferry’s built in satellite services -- which are very expensive. Sounds like your Bill Cap has protected you from a very hefty bill though!

Thanks.

Thank you Matthew. I had obviously very wrongly assumed that as I wasn’t roaming in the US, we weren’t in US water and was only in fact travelling between two countries within the roaming zones that this would be ok. No where does it say about this in the roaming guide published. I’m very very cross.

Sadly @ARace your phone would have latched onto either the Ferry’s network partner or indeed Telenor Maritime, both are a global based satellite networks. The reason for seeing the US would likely be to one or both using the Starlink system.

I can’t help you now, but for future reference:
