very poor data / internet- Exeter, Devon


Anyone else having poor data in the Exeter, Devon area. States 5G but useless.

@rgott23  How long has this been going on for also is this inside and outside?

You may want to check if any issues or maintenance work is going on in the checker below by putting in the full postal code.

What phone do you have and have you tried manually setting you phone to 4G only to see if your reception any better?

Reset a few times.

when I’m inside I’m usually on WiFi, so not sure, I think it’s constant though.

haven't tried 4G only (don’t know how, will investigate and try)

Last two days has been particularly bad. But no reports of service drop.

Yeah tried 4G - no better in my area. However, far away (wales) and now data working.

Sorry to hear that ​@rgott23, but glad to hear it’s working in Wales.

 

That therefore does indicated it’s more likely to be an area related issue, like you suggested.

 

When in your area, have you tried resetting network settings?

Hi. 

We are in Exeter too, and we are having the same issues as you. 

My wife and I are both on iD, and both suffering identical issues. Only one bar on the network and almost nonexistent 4G (5G not available) 

The annoying thing is I am using the same phone (S22) as I was with 3 mobile I was with them for years and had a brilliant coverage, at times 3 mobile 4G was faster than my WiFi. I switched to iD as 3 had stopped their continental roaming, and iD offered it saying they used the 3 network. So how can 3 mobile be so good and iD so poor if they use the same network?

I have called the iD complaint line and the operator i spoke with said to reset my network settings, which i did, but it made no difference. I said everything was pointing to a network issue. So she checked and came back with the answer that work was being carried out in our area. I said that was strange as the network status checker says no work going on in our area. She promised to call me back today with an update.

We have one bar indoors and out doors  yet standing on Polsloe Bridge Station I had a good strong 4 bar. 

The poor call standard is really annoying, if this carries on i will be writing to iD with a formal complaint.  If that doesn't sort it out I will push the complaint on to the Ombudsman or more likely to CISAS. You may want to do the same if you wish to end your contract early. We are not getting the service we are paying for.

Hi Captain.

Currently away with work, but certainly sounds like we have the same issue in the exact same area. Please keep me informed if you receive an update, but agree - something needs to happen if not reminded.

Mrs. Fancypants has also phoned and put in a separate complaint too. She has a reference number and been promised a call back within the next 24 to 48 hours.
