Welcome message stating france is not a roaming country.

My welcome message upon arriving in france states I will be charged £6/minute for calls, £1.60 for a text and over £9/Mb of data, what's going on, I've only had the phone a few days so not a good start.

Did you connect to a ships mobile network by any chance? You need to make sure you are connected to either Societe Francaise Du Radiotelephone, Bouygues, Orange or Free Mobile networks.

Hi @Juliewad

You are correct that the use of your phone should be OK for roaming within France.
Have you checked the advice from iD Mobile with regards to this?

https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/roaming-advice

What phone do you have?

Have you set the ‘Data Roaming’ setting to ‘ON’?

Hope this helps x

OK, so you think the initial message stating the high costs was because the phone connected to the ships network?

Hey there @Juliewad, there are indeed high costs associated with conntecting to the maritime network (ships network).

Therefore, we’d simply advise to ensure you’re connected to the regularl French network, as well as setting your bill cap to £0.00, to avoid any charges out of contract altogether.

Thanks,

Tyler
